CLONDUFF YOUTH AWARDS 2018

Clonduff Youth Awards Age 10-12

Upwards on 250 youngsters attended the Clonduff Youth Awards on Sunday afternoon 4th November, presented by Youth Officer Paul McConville.
The U6/U8 had their presentation in The Fun House Newry a couple of weeks ago. The U10/U12 Clonduff players in all codes – Football, Hurling, Camogie, Ladies Gaelic and Scór attended the first session on Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm with the U14/U16 in all codes attending at 4.30. In both sessions all the youngsters were treated to a hot snack and a drink and every one received a certificate. The U12 LGFA received Clonduff medals to recognise their finishing joint top in their league. Recognition of all the youngsters’ performances in blitzes, leagues and Scór was acknowledged.

Clonduff Youth Awards Age 14-16

In the second session for the U14/U16 children in all codes the new Camogie Soaring Stars Sara Louise Graffin and Paula O’Hagan presented the runners up medals in both League and Championship to the U14 girls and the winners medals and Cups to the U16 Camogs and both groups were also presented with specially commissioned training tops by sponsors Colin Shields, Gary Morgan and Oliver Morgan. Special Award winners were: U14 – Amy Morgan, Ellen Shields, Erin McAlinden; U16 – Hannah Wilson, Erin Lively, Lauren Kane.
Next up were the U16 Hurling individual players award – presented by newly crowned Down Junior Hurler of the Year John Murphy to Aodhán Quinn, Senan Gribben and Ben Magee. Then it was turn of the Scór na nÓg Ballad Group Co Champions 2018 who were presented with their County medals by Club Secretary Anita Brannigan.
Next up were U14 LGFA and Boys with the Club’s and Community’s experience in Feile 2018 coming in for special mention – an event which will never be forgotten by those involved. Special Award winners were: Girls – Ceallagh Byrne, Rosie McCann, Ellen Shields; 2017 U13 Boys: Eoin Devlin, Oisin Logan, Senan Carr, U14 Boys – Conor Quinn, Eoin Devlin, Max Dursley. The final presentation of the evening was to the U16 boys who won the All County B League by defeating Carryduff in the final. Special Awards made by their mentor PJ McGreevy went to Paudie Clancy, Laurence Brannigan and Darragh McAlinden.
Both sessions concluded with Club Chairman Padraig Matthews thanking the players, mentors and the parents for their commitment and support throughout the year and appealed to parents to get themselves involved in mentoring in the new season – training courses will be provided.
