ALL IRELAND CAMOGIE CLUB SEMI FINAL 2015

Piltown (Kilkenny) 3-5 Clonduff (0-6) – The scoreline does not reflect what happened in Clane Co Kildare on Sunday afternoon (1st February 2015). Clonduff got off to a great start and were three points up before Piltown registered their first score and this was followed by a goal which the keeper had saved brilliantly at the first time of asking but the backs couldn’t clear the danger. Clonduff answered with a point to leave the teams going in level at the break. The Yellas has the lion’s share of possession in that period but failed to convert it on the scoreboard. At the turnaround Clonduff were playing into a stiff breeze but more than held their own – with six minutes remaining Clonduff led by a point – then disaster a long range free which appeared to be going over the bar actually dropped into the net to put Piltown into the lead. Try as they might Clonduff just couldn’t get back on terms and the ‘Cats’ converted another couple of long range points before scoring another goal.
It was a harsh result on players and management but for the very big contingent of travelling support it was the end of magnificent year in which this group of girls created Club history by becoming the first ever Clonduff team to win an Ulster title on the field of play. It’s worth another go girls! Thanks for the memories of 2014!
