CLONDUFF CLUB HOSTS SCÓR SINSIR TRÁTH na gCEIST 2000

Clonduff quizzers – Mark Devlin, Brian Canavan, Anita Brannigan and Colin Shields

Ten teams from across the county participated in the Scór Sinsir Tráth na gCeist (Quiz) on Wednsday 5th October 2022 with Divisional and County titles awarded. This was the first time Scór Sinsir has been staged since 2020 and it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm for and the great vibe around the quiz! Teams attending were: Annaclone, Ballycran, Ballyholland, Bredagh, Burren, Clonduff, Dromara, Glenn, Mayobridge and St John’s.

Such was the enthusiasm that a number of clubs asked if similar type quiz could be run more frequently throughout the winter! The questions were excellent and at the end of the team quiz (ten rounds of six questions) very little separated all the teams. At that stage the top team from East Down (Bredagh), South Down (Burren) and the next highest scorer went into the individual playoff which consisted of each member being asked 5 x 2mark questions. After another closely contested event Burren were declared the winners and proceed to represent Down in the Ulster Quiz in Galbally, Co Tyrone on Saturday 15th October.
Many thanks to all involved in helping stage the event – the County Cultural Committee, Ryan Doyle (Liatroim) for the questions, Plunkett McConville (Clonduff) who was an excellent Quiz Master, Tommy Kelly (Clonduff) and Gerard Keenan (Co Cultural Committee) who were markers and Christopher Morgan who was the scorekeeper, the Clonduff Club Social Club Committee Bernard Branagan and Anthony Morgan, the Clonduff Quiz team who supplied the supper, Shereen and Hannah for serving the refreshment.
At the end of the event medals were presented to Bredagh as East Down Champions, Burren as South Down and County Champions – Burren also received the County Scór Shield.
