Paula O’Hagan receives the ‘Player of the Match’ award from Camogie President Hilda Breslin

This victory in Balella on Sunday 30th October, was as comprehensive as the scoreline suggests and maybe more so in that the opponents never scored from play! From the first whistle to the last, the Clonduff girls kept up the intensity, even the five subs who were introduced fitted seamlessly into the system and the pressure was relentless! The two teams had met earlier in the season and the game was quite a close affair and its true that Clonduff were pre-match favourites no-one would have predicted the margin of victory. Clonduff now play Eglish (Tyrone) in the Ulster Final towards the end of November.

The U12s from both clubs entertained at half time and were presented with their medal by Hilda Breslin (left) President of Camogie Association and Teresa Carr (right) Clonduff’s County Camogie Chair

Hilda Breslin, the National Camogie President was on hand to make the presentation to both the Senior team and the U12s from both clubs who had entertained at half time. The two U12 captains had presented the match ball to the referee Hugh Torney before the Final.

Paula O’Hagan’s accuracy from the placed ball and her overall contribution resulted in her being chosen as ‘The Player of the Match’ but in truth it could have gone to any of the girls in Yella, particularly those on the half-back line.

When Clonduff were going forward, even the rainbow was going over the bar

Following the onfield celebrations and photographs it was back to the clubrooms for the customary post-match meal, provided by Clonduff GAC, more photographs and a few short speeches from Guinevra McGilligan (Camogie Chair), Kieran McGourty (on behalf of the management team of Oisin McManus, Alastair and Guinevra McGilligan) and the team captain Jenna Boden. And then the celebrations continued ‘for a while’!
