CLONDUFF YOUTH AWARDS 2010

A very successful Youth Awards Night was held in the Club on Friday 29th October. Upwards on 200 children in the age range U8 to U16 in all field codes as well as Handball and Scór na nÓg were honoured. Pictured above are Special Guests of Honour (l to r) Brian McGreevy (Chairperson), Jason Brown, Rhona Torney, Darren O’Hagan, Fionnuala Carr and Teresa Carr (Youth Officer). Jason and Darren are two of the Club’s Down All Ireland Finalists Squad, Fionnuala Carr is Clonduff’s latest All Star and Rhona is a member of the Kay Mills Cup Antrim winning team.
Following the food, prepared by Alistair McGilligan, Club Youth Officer introduced the guests and then gave a very professional presentation on the 2010 year for the youth of Clonduff. She had a special mention for the 70 plus young people who helped their educational establishments to various successes in 2010.
In each of their addresses the four guests addressed the young people telling them to work hard at their skills and give it their full commitment and to have respect for themselves as well as their mentors, their club and their team mates – the message was the same from everyone!
The teams that achieved success received their team awards first – U12 Footballers – League Runners Up; U14 Footballers – South Down and County Championship Shields; U15 Óg Spoirt County Sevens; U14 Hurling League; U16 Hurling League
Teresa explained that there was a change for the individual awards and that three players from each team would be awarded having displayed certain attributes such as commitment, dedication, attitude, respect and playing to the best of their abilities. She reminded all the recipients that when playing a team sport that it is never about individuals but every single player.

U8 Football – Laurence Brannigan, Padraig Clancy, Dara McAlinden
U10 Football – Jamie O’Hagan, James Keenan, Ryan Woods
U11 Football – Lyndon Brown, Ross Carr, Ben McConville (presented following the U11 Final in Burren on Sunday 31st October)
U12B Camogie – Elle Fitzpatrick, Emma Gallagher, Kiera O’Reilly
U12 A Camogie – Rachel Harper, Hannah McAteer, Sinead McPolin
U12 Football – Brendan O’Hagan, Conor Woods, Ryan McGreevy
U14 Football – Caolan McAvoy, Stephen McConville, Thomas Murnin
U14 Hurling – Patrick Grant, Lorcan Brannigan, Declan Rooney
U14 Camogie – Jenna Boden, Ciara Tumilty, Cassie Fitzpatrick
U16 Football – Conor Brown, Eamon Grant, Liam McGreevy
U16 Camogie – Roisin Mulholland, Laura Grant, Niamh McGreevy
U16 Hurling – Sean Downey, Rian Branagan, Jamie Curran
Handball – U14 Shane Milligan; U15 Rory McQuaid; U16 Conor Brown
