CLONDUFF’S FIRST SENIOR HURLING MATCH 1983

According to ‘Sceal Chluain Daimh – The Clonduff Story’ Part 1,
”On The 13th March 1983 the first ever Hurling Team, of which the Clonduff Club have any written record , took the Field at home against Mayobridge. Many doughty games of Football had brought these neighbouring clubs into opposition but as far as can be ascertained, this was the first ever Hurling match between them. Johnny McPolin and Martin Farnon provided the experience in the rearguard, and John Crilly, Ross Carr and the Curran Brothers showed that their scoring talents were not confined to the game with the Big Ball ”

In August 2013, Guinevra McGilligan (nee Carr) named the team as follows:
(Back row l to r) Pat Matthews, Martin Farnon, Ross Carr, Hugh Brown, Bobby Brannigan, Paddy Haughian, Brian McGreevy, Leo Hamill – Sean Cairns is partially obscured. Front Row: Tommy Brown, Marty Curran, Johnny McPolin, John Joe Brown, John Crilly, Damien Murray, Colm Curran and Dominic Brannigan.
