HEARTBREAK FOR CLONDUFF IN SFC SF 2021
Burren 0-9 Clonduff 0-8
It may have been a low-scoring game in wet and greasy conditions in Pairc Esler on Sunday night, but it was exciting and extra time would have been just reward for The Yellas who were the big underdogs. Burren had three points on the board before Clonduff opened their account, and despite Clonduff having a man black-carded they levelled up just after the first water break – that was the first of six times the teams were level during the game. It was edge-of-the-seat stuff – Burren were a point ahead at half time; it was level pegging at the second water break, Clonduff briefly led right after the break and at full time it was level with Burren scoring the winning point well into added time.
The players and management took us on a great journey with exciting football throughout the current season, clinching the 2020 league title (first since 2000), Corn an Dúin Plate and narrowly missing out on the 2021 league title by a point and taking us to the semi final of the Championship. Take a well-deserved break lads and let’s go again next season and complete that journey you have started!
Many thanks to the management and back-room team of Ciarán McBride, Mark Copeland, Ryan McShane, Anthony Grimes, Niall Keyes (Goal-keeping coach), Anthony Morgan & Mark Trainor (Kit), Tommy Kelly (Admin), Grainne Walsh (Medical)
