KILMACUD ALL IRELAND SEVENS CHAMPIONS 2009

Kilmacud All Ireland Sevens Camogie Champions 2009 – has a lovely ring to it! These girls made history on Saturday 12th September when they took the All Ireland Sevens title for the first time ever. There were 32 teams in the Shield competition and Clonduff beat everyone that came their way – Group Section played at Clonkeen College – Ballinderry, Derry , Portglenone, Antrim and Crosserlough, Cavan; they remained in Clonkeen for the quarter final where they defeated Castledawson, Derry. Then it was on to HQ at Kilmacud for the semi final where they narrowly defeated Carlow outfit Myshall to set up a final meeting with big Down rivals Ballycran. But just as in the County Final against the same opposition the ‘Yellas’ were in no mood for defeat and emerged winners on a scoreline of 4-12 to 3-4. The team – Back row (l to r) Eileen Hamill, Maura Quinn, Guinevra McGilligan, John Crossey, Sheenagh McConville. Middle row (l to r) Karen Gribben, Sara-Louise Carr, Lorraine Maginn, Kitty Fegan and Leanne McParlan. Front row (l to r) Katie McGilligan, Orla Maginn, Ciara Havern, Fionnuala Carr (Capt), Ursula Quinn and Paula Gribben.
