The U14 and U16 Ladies Footballers and their managers came together in The Downshire Arms on Saturday evening 12th November for their end of year celebration! And they had plenty to celebrate – the 2 x U14 teams ended the year with the same number of girls as they started with, the U14s of course won the A Championship and it later emerged that they were runners up in the League, with the

Development team reaching the semi final as did the U16 girls. And then there was the U15 Feile team made up of players from both sets of players. The Feile team won Div 2 in Down which qualified them for the Ulster Regional Finals in Darver which they won handsomely not dropping a game along the way. Also on display was the U12.5 Shield won in Killeavey and the U12 Cup won in Clonduff – a number of the U14 Development Team were members of both these teams.

Guest of Honour was Clonduff Senior Ladies Captain Leanne McAleavey, winner of 2 All Ireland University medals, having captained one of the teams. Leanne presented the Cup and medals to the U14 Championship winning team and spoke to the girls about the importance of sport in her life and encouraged them all to stay together and play together – if they find that someone drops out next year it is their responsibility to call or txt the missing players and get them back on board. The U14 Development team was also introduced to Leanne who was happy to have her photo taken with them and their manager. Many thanks to U14 managers Kevin, Anthony, Geraldine and Sinead and the parents who helped out in any way and to all who sponsored the team.

Joint managers Marie and Sinead presented the trophies and medals to the Feile team and were joined by the other U16 mentors Marty, Charlene and Kieran, before they all sat down to the delightful meal provided by the Downshire Arms – the meal for the Feile team was sponsored by Coach Marty Woods – a massive thank you Marty and of course to all who helped with sponsorship and training.
And then they had a bit of craic with Tik Toc – Marie, Sinead and Charlene were the stars of that show – with Geraldine directing the choreography to the house music! A great wee evening was had by all!
