U16 BOYS ARE ALL COUNTY DIV 1 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2017

Many congratulations to our U16 boys and their mentors who clinched the All County League Div 1 title in a pulsating game with Ballyholland on Wednesday 5th July 2017. Clonduff are currently fielding two teams at this age level – the All County team and a Development team in the South Down League – they all attended the match on Wednesday evening in Mayobridge.
It was a wonderful game of football – Clonduff found themselves down 7 points having conceded two early goals. They showed great character and went in at the break trailing by a single point, the keeper having saved a penalty. The game had been levelled up early in the second half but misfortune befell them after just eight minutes when one of the forwards received a straight red card for retaliation – their character and skill really shone through as at times it seemed that they had the extra man. In the dying minutes Clonduff were three points up but back came Ballyholland with another goal. The Yellas did have the final chance to win it but shot wide. It went to extra time and Clonduff restored to the full complement were two up at the turnaround and finished the game on a score of 3-13 to 3-10.
