Traditionally on Boley Fair Monday Clonduff GAA Club organises the Poc Fada on the Hen Mountain The weather bad been drizzly in the morning but by the time Poc Off came around the weather had improved dramatically (picture above) and most of those completing the course finished in t-shirts. There were twelve adults and four juveniles slogging it around the mountain and quite a number of supporters completed the course including six-year-old Grace and four-year-old Martín McCusker from San Francisco who accompanied their Daddy who was competing for the first time. Moya and Orla Maginn were the only adult females whilst Cassie Fitzpatrick was the only juvenile female. The youngest competitor was ten-year-old Padraig Clancy. By the time they got back to base Rhys Ward had won the juvenile section for the second year in a row and Cassie was awarded the juvenile female prize. What a different story with the adults – the Maginn sisters couldn’t be separated (Orla was going for her third title in a row) and neither could Eddie Clancy and John Murphy (also going for his third in a row). The hard slog around the mountain was reduced to one long puck each – Orla and John both successfully retained their titles – come on folks let’s give them stiffer competition next year!
