Thursday 11th July – Family Fortunes, Clonduff Style – got the carnival underway and the craic was mighty! Starting out with 14 teams which were eventually reduced to 2 for the final – The Fork Hunts (aka Trainor Bros) and Alright Biii’sss (aka Senior Footballers) – with the former taking the bragging rights on the night.
Other teams taking part were: Down Legends, The 80s Team, The Mighty Quinns, Ali G’s Shinpad Sheilas (aka Senior Camogs), The Boley Gang (aka Clonduff Executive), The Morganshank Redemption, The Ginny Ginns, The Blow-ins, The Branagans, The Limerick Reserves (aka Senior Hurlers), Dinny’s Dynamos (aka Senior LGFA) and The Gribben Gladiators
The event was very ably and hilariously hosted by our own Orla Morgan and Matty Murphy.
There was a lot of banter among the teams – family members on opposing teams, one of the Down Legends accepted the dare to don an Armagh Jersey for a substantial donation to his chosen charity (KBRT), lots of spot prizes for answers and audience participation! And Disco King provided the music for sound effects. The night concluded with the amazing Matt McGinn and his Band.
A truly wonderful evening to get it all underway! Roll on the rest of the weekend!
