Congratulations to St Patrick’s Primary School on winning the Canon Esler Shield on Friday night 19th October 2012! The game was played in the pouring rain under lights in Newcastle. Having finished runners up in the group stages earlier in the month they qualified for the Shield Semi Final. They defeated Ballycruttle/Saul to set up a final showdown with St Dallan’s Warrenpoint. They showed a lot of character having trailed 0-7 to 0-2 at the break they turned in a sparkling performance in the second half and ran out easy winners by ten points! Great, Great performance. Collie Bell, Chair of Cumann na mBunscoil presented the shield to captain Laurence Brannigan.
