GARY MURRAY U12 MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT 2016

The extended Murray Family on the 40th Anniversary
14 Teams from Down, Armagh and Louth competed for the country’s longest tournament title on Saturday 28th May. The weather was just right for the 40th Anniversary (41st running) Tournament and what a festival of Gaelic Football the young boys and girls put on. The teams were divided into four groups with the top two in each group progressing to the knockout stages of the Cup. The third placed teams went into the Shield competition with the remainder competing for the Plate.
Burren and Clonduff Gaels contested the Cup Final – The Yellas had beaten Burren in the group stages but this time the Burren team reversed the result.
In the Shield Final, Shane O’Neill’s (Camlough) overcame a spirited Roche Emmets (Louth)
Clann na Banna defeated the younger Clonduff players playing as Clonduff Ógs in the Plate Final.
Player of the Tournament and recipient of the Lily Murray Cup was Owen Loughran, Burren.
Many thanks to the clubs who attended, the parents who made sandwiches, the Murray Family for immense help on the day; the referees, runners, tidy-uppers, shop assistants, administrators or anyone who helped in any way.
Every child received a commemorative medal in this special anniversary year; following the formal presentation of trophies and medals to the finalists, the Murray Family made a presentation to Clonduff Club for their help and support over the years.
