Due to the very bad morning on Saturday 2nd August 2014, only nine U12 girls turned up for the Burren Hospice Tournament. Despite that, the group travelled on to Burren and what a great decision that was on the part of those nine girls and their mentors Paddy McCumiskey and Kieran Kelly. In the first match the girls beat a very strong Rostrevor team but were then beaten in a very tight match by the home side, the eventual Cup winners. This put Clonduff through to the shield final against Saval who came second in their group. Clonduff girls were winning 1-2 to 1-0 at half time. In the second half against the wind Clonduff really excelled, playing great football scoring another goal and a point to win 2-3 to 1-1. The nine girls, pictured above were: Aoife McCusker, Ellen Shields, Orlaith McCusker, Charlotte Woods, Lauren Kane, Kayla Woods, Ella McCumiskey, Clodagh Kelly, Eveagh Kelly. Well done to everyone involved – it was a demonstration of pure bravery to venture out in such conditions, never mind play football!
