Clonduff once again hosted a very successful U12 Ladies Football tournament on Saturday 25th August 2018. Clonduff entered two teams due to a last minute withdrawal but it meant that all 18 girls got lots of game time.
The teams initially played in two groups with the top two in each group playing off for the Cup and the other teams playing off for the Shield. In Group 1 there was St John’s, Burren, Mayobridge and Clonduff; in Group 2 there was St John Bosco, Dundrum, Glenn and The Yellas (the Clonduff split) and we sincerely thank all those teams for making it a very worthwhile tournament.
In the final roundup St John’s beat The Yellas in the Shield semi final and went on to defeat Bosco in the Shield Final. Glenn in their first official outing as a team qualified for the Cup competition but were defeated by Clonduff in the semi final; Clonduff (all Clonduff players pictured below with mentors Kieran and Majella) went on to defeat Mayobridge handsomely in the Final.
Clonduff wishes to thank sincerely all the visiting teams, our own players and mentors, the parents for providing and serving the lunch and helping throughout the day with umpiring; big shout out to Deirdre who was charged with the camera and despite her misgivings made a great hand of it! We particularly wish to thank Kieran and Majella our team mentors, those who refereed games including a few visiting referees and Niall for co-ordinating
