Our two local primary schools celebrated the GAA 125 Anniversary on Friday 24th April 2009 with a series of all day activities. The weather was favourable in the morning when all the youngsters from both schools took part in outdoor activities. The children of St Paul’s used Lowry’s Meadow which has a historical link with Clonduff teams of the past and has recently been used recently to accommodate club teams for training when there was just too much activity in Clonduff Park. The children from St Patrick’s were all brought to Pairc Chluain Daimh where every child took part in Football, Hurling, Camogie or Rounders. The teachers in both schools were assisted and supported by Club personnel who were available on the day.
The GAA theme continued in the afternoon with the teaching of the curriculum through the GAA resources, which has been ongoing for some time.
St Patrick’s is also doing a presentation on the ‘Townlands’ Project which will be displayed in The Clubrooms over Lá na gClub weekend.
