Only two teams turned up this year for the Parish Sevens on Boley Tuesday, 12th July – perhaps some people were confused by the Inter Club Tournament on Saturday 9th July. However those that did provided a great spectacle and not content with playing a game of two halves they wanted to take full advantage of the opportunity and the appreciation of the spectators – they played four ‘halves’! The skill and fitness levels were remarkable with great end to end fare. There were some great goals scored playing into the ‘Go Games’ nets. At the end of 32 mins football (4 x 8 mins) ‘The Non-shirts’, captained by Peter Withnell emerged one point winners over ‘The Shirts’, captained by Tony Wilson.
There was a big welcome for Gavin Mackin who religiously makes it home from San Francisco to take part every year. The Boley plaques were presented in the clubrooms by Brian McGreevy and Anita Brannigan and Mary Rodgers entertained everyone with her rendition of “She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain”.
