A great evening and night’s craic took place in the clubrooms on Friday 16th March. The evening started with a Senior Football Challenge match between Clonduff and Whitecross and both teams were entertained to great traditional music and a welcome bowl of Irish stew. Cora Magee and Paula Higgins and their students from our weekly traditional music school got proceedings off to a lively start and they were later joined by the Murray Family. Eileen McCusker accompanied them on the spoons before regaling us with a couple of hilarious recitations. Francis Quinn then gave us an exhibition of the ‘Brush Dance’. Cormac McKay and Neil Francis O’Hagan joined the party with music and song; which continued for quite some time – John Curran’s and Noreen Tumilty’s melodic tones were a joy to behold; Eileen once again was in fine form with her storytelling and a rendition of ‘Hail Glorious St Patrick’ in which the whole audience joined – the Chairman, not to be outdone, gave us a great story about a bodily function much to the disgust of his daughter! The talent for entertainment in our Parish knows no bounds!
The Irish Stew and Green Juice went down a treat – thanks to Marie (and Sean), Noreen and Lorraine for making the stew and to Bobby McGowan and Patrick Morgan for donating the potatoes for the stew! Thanks also to those who donated prizes for the raffle. A great night was had by all and there was a request to hold another night like it in the not too distant future!
