Around 100 children and teachers from P5, P6 and P7 in local primary school took part in the National Relay Run (Rith) in support of the Irish Language when it arrived in Hilltown on Friday 14th March 2014. The Run was first made in 2010 but this was the first year our local children had an opportunity to participate and they certainly enjoyed the occasion! Rith 2014 began in Cork on 7th March and finished in Belfast on Saturday 15th March, having travelled up the East Coast of Ireland and through 200 towns and villages to raise awareness of Seactaine na Gaelige (Gaelic Week). Clonduff GAA Club sponsored the local event and treated the organisers and stewards to a welcome cuppan tae afterwards. The Club would like to thank Marian and the INF for making their premises available to keep the children safe until the convoy arrived from Rostrevor.
