The U14 and U16 Boys were treated to an end-of-season meal cooked by none other than Kevin McGrath assisted by Daniel McPolin on Sunday evening, 3rd November 2019! (I hope the wives are reading this).
Coaching Officer Paul McConville was in charge of proceedings and Guest of Honour on the evening was Caolan Mooney (who has his roots in Clonduff!). Paul spoke of the advancement of the teams and encouraged them to stick with it – with the changes in age-levels next season these teams will be moving to U15 and U17 seamlessly.
Caolan presented trophies to the ‘Players of the Year’ –
U14 – Brian McGreevy, Lonan Mac Domhnaill and Cathal Fegan
U16 – Patrick Cowan, Connor McCumiskey and Aaron Norris.
He then addressed the boys saying that you didn’t have to win silverware to make progress!
In closing the event, Club Chair Padraig Matthews thanked the boys for their commitment, their parents for supporting the players and he had a special word for the mentors who freely gave up their time – players can have the odd night off but that does not happen in the case of mentors. He asked the boys to show their appreciation for their mentors, especially the cooks, and Caolan – there was a resounding round of applause.
