Clonduff 2-10 Ballygalget 0-8
Any County title that you win is to be savoured and enjoyed but most will agree that yesterday’s victory was that little bit extra special. It’s the first time Clonduff have done 4 in a row, the first time they’ve won the County Title in the Ards. Clonduff, somehow went into the game, reigning County (3 in a row) and back to back Ulster champions, as underdogs. Anyone that doubted the class and calibre of this group of players got their questions answered yesterday.
It was Ballygalget that got their names on the scoreboard first with a point from a free and one from play. A free from Paula and a point from Clara levelled the game. A great passage of play between Fionnuala, Paula and Sara-Louise left the keeper and the ball in the back of the net.
First half water break
Clonduff 1-2 Ballygalget 0-4
Neither side scored from play in the next period and 2 frees from Paula and 3 for Ballygalget left it leve at Half time
Clonduff 1-4 Ballygalget 0-7
Great work out of defence between Clare and Cassie left Sara-Louise on the ball and she got her brace of goals. It set the tone for a second half that belonged to the Yellas as Ballygalget were held to a point from a free. Quite simply they had no answer to Clonduff’s dominance in every position on the pitch. One from play and a free from Paula left it
2nd half water break
Clonduff 2-6 Ballygalget 0-8
Jenna is back to doing what she knows best and two crucial tackles from her and Fionnuala thwarted two Ballygalget goal attacks early in the last period.
The last 5 min of the game were simply sublime as points sailed over from Sara-Louise, Hannah and Paula. In what was virtually the last passage of play, great work out of defence from Katie Morgan left Sara-Louise on the ball and she finished off with a point which was, undoubtedly, the score of the day.
Final score
