RETURN OF THE DANIEL ANDRE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
The weather was very much in favour for the large crowd that converged in Clonduff Park for the return of the Daniel Andre U9.5 Memorial Blitz on Sunday 18th September.
Teams from Down, Armagh and Tyrone battled out for the four competitions on offer, with a tremendous standard on show from each and every child in attendance.
Up on the top field, in the Plaque final Carrickcruppen came through a strong contest with one of the Clonduff teams, whilst in the Shield final, Cumann Pheadair Naofa overcame a spirited Bryansford team.
Down on the main field, the Plate and Cup competitions took place. In the plate final, the other Bryansford team defeated their down rivals Burren in the final. In the last game to finish on the day, a composed Donaghmore (Tyrone) defeated their Armagh rivals Carrickcruppen in the final of the Cup.
Prior to the presentation of the trophies and medals, Luigi Andre (on behalf of the whole Andre family) congratulated everyone who took part and thanked everyone for honouring Daniel’s memory.
Thank you to all the many volunteers (Shop and burger team, car parking attendants, referee’s, umpires, lines people) who helped out on the day, special thanks to Tournament Co-ordinators Mark Devlin & Anthony Grimes for the fantastic job they did in planning, preparing and delivering on a great event – it was a wonderful day for our club.
Special mention for our young volunteers who helped referee the games in such a great manner, and to Andrew Bye for capturing the amazing photos.
Well Done everyone – A very proud day for the Andre family & for our club.
Already looking forward to next year 💛🤍
