Hard luck but well done at the same time to St Colman’s College on reaching the final of the McFarlane Cup (Hurling) for Year 10 (and Under boys). In the end they were well beaten by seasoned campaigners Gael Cholaiste Dhoire, Dungiven in Lamh Dearg, Antrim. They may have been beaten but it’s not that long ago since Down were entering an all-county select in this competition. Great credit is due to Aodhán Rodgers who has persevered over the last number of years and to the hard work being put in by Down and Armagh Clubs to raise the level of Juvenile Hurling in the counties.
Best wishes to Aodhán who retires at the end of 2023 school year. Enjoy every minute of it!
St Colman’s team included seven lads who play Hurling for Clonduff – pictured (l-r) Ryan McPolin, Shaun Rice, Eoin Crosbie, Lorcan Matthews James Matthews and Sean Óg Cowan. Danny Doyle on Ryan’s right in Newry Shamrock’s jersey also plays U15 Hurling for Clonduff.
Well done lads – keep up the great work!
