Clonduff Camogs made the long journey to Connaught on Saturday morning 24th June to compete in the National Féile Finals. As Down County Champions they were assigned to Division 3 and played their group games in Caltra, Galway, playing against teams from Carlow, Roscommon and Galway. The results were as follows:
Naomh Brid Carlow 0-2 Clonduff 4-8
St Dominic’s Roscommon 0-1 Clonduff 2-6
Ardrahan Galway 4-2 Clonduff 5-6
With those results they powered their way into the semi final v Cillard (Kerry), which they also won to set up a final showdown.
In the Final v Raharney (Westmeath) Clonduff were behind 0-3 to 0-1 at the break but put on a gallant fight in the second half to send the game into extra time, only to lose that by 2 points – Final Score 0-6 to 0-4
The girls were heart-broken but they shouldn’t allow this to spoil what was a wonderful contest against some of the best club in the country. All credit is due to the girls and to their mentors.
