FORMER CLONDUF LGFA PLAYER ON INTERNATIONAL MASTERS TEAM 2024

Many congratulations to our former LGFA Player Michaela Downey who has been selected to represent Down in the first ever ‘Gaelic Masters’ (Over 40) LGFA International Rules Series in March 2024.  The games will be played in Mullagh GAA Club Co Galway and Denn GAA Club Co Cavan on 9th and 16th March respectively.

Michaela, who was born in Clonduff Parish grew up in Newry but when the Ladies Football in Newry Bosco was going through a tough time in 2004 with regards to numbers, she and her sister Aoibheann plied their trade with their fledgling native club of Clonduff. In that year Clonduff LGFA won the Intermediate Championship and went on to win three-in-a-row Senior Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008. During that time – 2006 – Michaela was selected to player on the one and only every International Rules Series with one of the games in Breffni Park (Cavan) and one in Parnell Park (Dublin).

Michaela has always been a role model for the LGFA and we wish her and her International team mates all the very best for this inaugural Masters Series.
