U14 Div 1 All County Hurling Championship Semi-Final
Clonduff 7-15 V Carryduff 1-8
Clonduff U14 Hurlers wrote themselves into the club’s history books as they became the first Clonduff Hurling team, at any age group, to qualify for an All County A Final following a convincing semi-final win over Carryduff on Friday evening 30th August 2024.
After a very hard fought and competitive championship, which contained all three of the Ards firsts teams, as well as the firsts teams of all the other senior championship graded clubs of Liatroim, Bredagh and Carryduff, the team put in a fantastic display to reach this final, after narrowly losing at the semi-final stage last year.
A strong opening ten minutes saw them go four points up, before Carryduff narrowed the gap with a goal. However, the team continued to press forward and an exhibition of support play, well-taken scores and intense and disciplined defending saw them pull ahead steadily throughout the game to secure their historic victory.
They went on to face up to the highly-fancied Liatroim in the County Final in Ballela on Saturday 7th September at midday. Liatroim lived up to their expected domination of the game and won the game on a scoreline that didn’t really reflect the Clonduff effort. However, Clonduff got a step further in 2024 than they did in 2023 wo keep up the hard work lads and who knows what will happen in 2025.
