Sunday 8th September was assigned in the Clonduff calendar for LGFA Parish Tournament to mark the 50th anniversary of Ladies Gaelic Football in Ireland and 30 Years in Down.
A total of 135 children participated in four sections and stood respectfully for Amhrán na bhFiann which was beautifully sung by senior player Martina Carvill to signal the beginning of the event:
U6 – 5 teams
U8 – 4 teams
U10 – 4 teams
U12/14 – 4 teams
8 games were played simultaneously – the U6s got 4 games each (8 min games); U8s and U10s 3 games each (12 min games); U12/14 3 games (15 min games).
U16, Minor and Adult players mentored and refereed the games. Pitch coordinators and score-keepers were coaches from the various age groups all of which assisted with the smooth running of the day. Many thanks to all involved including the hard-working LGFA Sub Committee.
