Clonduff Senior Camogie team won their 10th title in Kilclief Ben Dearg on Saturday 12th October when they beat Portaferry 1-13 to 1-3.
Clonduff were on top throughout the match on the windswept shore of Strangford Lough but that didn’t deter the Girls in Yellow!
Clonduff had won their first title back in 2007 and four of the players on the 2024 team played on that team and every winning team since – well done Fionnuala Carr, Sara Louise Graffin (nee Carr), Paula O’Hagan (nee Gribben) and Ursula Kearney (nee Quinn)!
Equally as important were the young girls on the team winning their first – Clodagh Kelly, Laura Close, Hannah Shields, Niamh McConville, Lily Rafferty, Sinead McPolin!
Erin Rafferty, who not for the first time, was selected as ‘Player of the Match’ and received the brand new Belle O’Loughlin Cup from the late Belle’s daughter Nicola Boylan. Erin had the onerous task of marking former Down star and current Galway player Niamh Mallon.
The Championship Trophy was presented to team captain Clare McGilligan by Down Chairperson Teresa Carr who just happens to be Clare’s aunt!
The U12 youngsters, not to be outdone, had braved the elements (a ferocious hail storm) along with their counterparts from Portaferry to form a Guard of Honour for the players entering the pitch and they were there right at the end to have their photos taken with their heroes!
And then it was back to Clonduff Club for a well earned meal and a continuation of the celebrations!
