G4MO CHARITY BLITZ IN CLONDUFF

What an afternoon, in every respect – fun, frolics, family, fundraising, oh and a bit of football too, in Pairc Chluain Daimh on Saturday afternoon in fabulous sunshine!

Nine visiting teams joined Clonduff to participate in the blitz, the proceeds of which are going to The Children’s Cancer Fund. Many thanks to Clonoe (Tyrone), St Bronaghs GAA Rostrevor, Warrenpoint GAA, St. John Bosco GAC Newry, Saval Gaelic Athletic Club, Atticall GAC, Longstone GAC, Dundrum GAC and Burren GAA.

A special word of thanks to Louise and her team for organising – the day went like clockwork and a lot of money was raised for Daisy Lodge Children’s Cancer Therapeutic Centre, Newcastle, Co Down which was the object of the day.

Proceedings got underway with one of the Clonduff players, Ciara singing Amhrán na bhFiann followed by the warmup facilitated by Annietimes. Then the games got underway – thanks to all those who refereed – Colm Rice (Warrenpoint), Kevin, PJ, Jamie, Onagh, Niall and young Aodhan (fresh from making his debut with Down U15s).
Then it was upstairs for the feast (mostly provided by the Clonduff players) and the refreshments of course, and the entertainment – local up-and-coming entertainer Dara McSloy set the tone for two hours, followed by the local ‘Disco King’.

The referees at the G4MO Blitz, without whom it couldn’t have happened – (l-r) Niall Donnan, Kevin McGrath, Aodhan Gilbey, Onagh McClorey, PJ Quinn, Colm Rice (Warrenpoint), Jamie Gribben

There were a lot of local people and businesses who sponsored the event and the many prizes for the raffle, and to them we say a mighty big THANK YOU!
