Heartiest congratulations to Down Senior Football team who got their 2009 National League campaign off to a great start in Thurles (Tipperary) on Sunday 1st February.
Down played against a very strong breeze in the first half and went in level on 0-7 each with Tipperary. They took full advantage of the wind in the second half reeling off eight unanswered points and adding eleven in total – Tipperary only managed three scores – one of them a goal – to give the scoreline a more respectable look. The final score was Tipperary 1-9 Down 0-18. In the absence of Captain Dan Gordon, Clonduff’s Aidan Carr was the Down Captain for the game and he is pictured on the right with referee Pat McGovern (Galway) and his counterpart from Tipperary
