Many congratulations to 15-year old Aoife Trainor who was adjudged the best young singer in Ireland at the Scór na nÓg Finals in Castlebar, Co Mayo on Saturday 16th February 2019. Aoife, singing ‘Slan Abhaile’ as a tribute to her little sister Ella who died tragically in 2016, beat off the champions from the other four provinces. In all, it was a great day for Ulster competitors winning the Table Quiz (Cavan), Ceili Dancing (Antrim), Solo Singing (Aoife from Down), Recitation (Antrim) and the Leirui Staitse (Antrim).
Aoife is pictured here with All Ireland GAA President John Horan (l) and All Ireland Scór Chair Aodhan Brennan! Aoife’s All Ireland success was the curtain raiser for the Camogie All Ireland success two weeks later.
