CAMPA CHORMAÍC 2010

A big contingent of Clonduff youngsters again attended Campa Chormaic in Castlewellan which ran from 12th – 16th July 2010. The Summer Camp, originally established in Tyrone in memory of the late Cormac McAnnallen expanded to Down last year and such was the success that in 2010 it further expanded to Antrim and Derry. It caters for young people aged 9-16 where they spend half a daily session learning Irish and the other half doing Gaelic Games and other outdoor activities teamed up with children of equal ability and age as far as possible.
The attendance at the Down Camp in 2010 was up by 25% on last year to just over 130 children.
Congratulations to our own Cathal Fitzpatrick (centre, front row in Clare jersey) who was awarded the prize for the best Primary School child in the camp.
“As per usual Clonduff’s contribution to Campa Chormaic was outstanding this year. The club representatives in attendance were a credit to the yellow jersey one and all and participated enthusiastically in all codes”. (Comment from Down PRO Ronan McMahon)
