CLONDUFF ANNUAL AWARDS 2008

Clonduff held their Annual Awards (for 2008) in the Clubrooms on Saturday 7th February 2009. The Club was packed to capacity – the special guest speakers were Enda McGinley (Tyrone Midfielder and 2008 All Star recipient), Maria Fox (Secretary Down Ladies Football Board) and Jenny Cultra the Down Camogie Chairperson. Hosts for the night were Fionnbharr Murphy and Orla Maginn – new emerging talent on the entertainment scene having already proved themselves on the Hurling (and Football) and Camogie fields as evidenced by their being presented with Senior Hurler and Senior Camogie Player of the Year respectively.
A few years ago Clonduff deviated from the norm within many Clubs by awarding the Hall of Fame to a female (Rosemary Carr) and again they continued this trend by awarding the Hall of Fame to the three ladies who brought the first All Ireland Scór title to the Club in 1977 – Ann Donnelly (nee Quinn) Mary Grant (nee McGinn) and Eileen Hamill. This was a landmark decision on the part of Clonduff in this the 40th Anniversary of the founding of the Scór competitions.
The Club also honoured Michaela Downey only the Club’s second ever recipient of an All Star Award for services to the Down, Ulster and International Ladies’ Football scene. (Click on the image above left to view a slideshow of the event)
