CLONDUFF G4M0 ATTEND THEIR FIRST EVER ULSTER BLITZ JUNE 2022
They got together for the first time in February 2022 and had their first game in April to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ladies Gaelic in Clonduff but they looked like veterans of the game in Silverbridge Gfc on Saturday 11th June! They had a whale of a time and even the referee wanted to be part of them!
Like all of the 20 teams in attendance Clonduff were in a 5-team group ensuring 4×13 min games! Whilst The Yellas may only have been novices, having played their first game in April 2022, they didn’t look like they were – they were as fit and skilful as any other team in their group!
Clonduff’s first game was against near neighbours Atticall and that was immediately followed by the veterans of Saval! There was a reasonable break before their 3rd game v St Patrick’s Lisburn and then quite a long break before their final game v the experienced Bosco side.
Every single ‘girl’ thoroughly enjoyed the day and one of them had the audacity to ask for ‘Hawkeye’ when one of her shots was deemed wide by the referee! There were a few injuries along the way and many thanks to the Ulster Ladies Gaelic Physio Donal Ferris who, along with the club First Aiders, kept the show on the road! Following a great meal, the socials and the craic in the magnificent Silverbridge Club, the Ladies headed for home vowing that this won’t be their last outing and hopefully will host such an event themselves in the not too distant future.
Many thanks to Silverbridge Gfc for hosting the event and providing the meal and to Ulster Ladies Gaelic especially Ciaran Murtagh for organising!
