St Colman’s 8-7 v St Patrick’s Keady 1-6
St Colman’s had a resounding victory over the Keady side that had beaten them in the group stages. The final of Danske Bank McGreevey Cup was played in Pairc Esler on Tuesday 19th November 2024. The College had their only previous cup win in 2015.
Keady got out of the blocks quickest with two points before the College boys took control of the game in the middle part of the opening half.
Goals from Oisín McConville (two) and Rory Burns put ahead with James McCarthy and Austin Matthews dominant in the middle of the park.
Keady came with a late goal and three points to finish just 3 points adrift at half time 3-2 to 1-5.
However, Oisín McConville completed his hat-trick with a goal a couple of minutes into the second half and Keady never really got a chance to recover despite their best efforts and were only able to convert a single point during the second half.
The College’s Rory Burns also completed his hat-trick and there were goals as well for Joseph Matthews and Luke Coulter to complete a comfortable win for St Colman’s.
As well as the main scorers, they had stars in Jimmy McGrath, Ryan Aulds and Austin Matthews.
