Congratulations to the U10½ Clonduff team who began the season in great fashion by winning the Shield competition in Kilcoo on Saturday 9th May. The boys finished the group stage with a comprehensive victory over St Peter’s Meath and narrow defeats to Magherafelt and Killeavy and qualified for the Shield competition. They defeated Tullylish and Dundrum in the knock out stages to set up a final with Clann Eireann. What a nail biter it was – nothing could separate the sides. Although Clann Eireann drew first blood, the game was even at half time and again at full time. Extra time required!!!
The Yellas went a point up in the first period of extra time and despite an onslaught from the Armagh men, Clonduff’s defence performed heroics by keeping them at bay. When the referee blew the final whistle, that one point was enough to secure a well deserved victory.
Congratulations again to all the players who took part :- Aidan, Brian, Connor G, Connor Q, Cormac, Daniel, Darragh, Evan, Fionn, Gerard, Harry, Jordan, Lee and Senán and thanks to mentors Paul and Andrew.
