SCÓR NA nÓG COUNTY FINALS 2024

Well done to our young people (aged 6-16) who took part in the County Scór na nÓg finals in Atticall on Sunday 10th November. We were competing in four of the seven disciplines – Céilí Dancing, Recitation, Ballad Group and Set Dancing and you were all a credit to yourselves, your families, your mentors and your club!

It was the biggest final in terms of participants (six teams in almost every competition) and supporters for many years and the atmosphere and hospitality were absolutely brilliant!

Set Dancers County Champions are: Maeve Canning, Lucy Canning, Úna Canning, Aine Quinn, Cara Quinn, Rosa McShane, Darcy Branagan, Rachel Fealy.

All our competitors were amazing but unfortunately there can only be one County Champion! It was not to be for our Ceilí team, Reciter or Ballad Group – but be proud of the fact that you reached the County Final, performed to the best of your ability and gave a lot of joy to a lot of people. Maith sibh gach duine!!

The Céilí team on right: Maeve Canning, Lucy Canning, Úna Canning, Aine Quinn (obscured by big sister Cara), Cara Quinn, Rachel Ward, Kyla Branagan, Aliyah Mae Fegan.

The ‘wee’ Set Dancers (aged 6-10) brought the house down – they were the last act on stage – with their mature performance and obvious joy when performing. They now go forward to represent Down in the Ulster Semi Finals v their counterparts from Cavan, Monaghan and Fermanagh in Stradone, Co Cavan on Sunday 17th November commencing 2pm. Ádh mór oraibh!

On the left is reciter Louisa Gribben; on the right is the Ballad Group: Callum McStravick, Clare Green, Ruby Binks, Kennedy Dinsmore and Jack McGreevy.
