Clonduff GAA Club hosted their second U12 Ladies Football Blitz Tournament on Sunday 6th October in Clonduff Park. Six team participated and they provided a wonderful spectacle of colour. Teams from Burren, Rostrevor, Carryduff and Newry Bosco joined the two host teams in a great show of skills for ones so young. They played in two groups of three with the top two in each group progressing to the the Martin Woods Cup Semi Final and the two bottom teams going directly into the Marty Johnston Shield Final. Clonduff 2 were beaten in they semi final by Carryduff while Bosco defeated Rostrevor. In the Shield Final Burren defeated Clonduff 1 and in the Cup Final Bosco defeated Carryduff.
Marty Johnston presented the Shield to the Burren Captain, Martin Woods presented the Cup to the Bosco Captain and Sean Cowan presented the medals.
Onagh Gribben, on behalf of Clonduff GAA Club congratulated the winners and thanked all the teams for attending, She had a special word of thanks for our referees Paula Cairns and Mark Devlin who took charge of all the games; the senior and U14 Ladies who assisted with the smooth running of the event; the parents who provided the sandwiches and helped with the lunches and Goretta, Noleen and Shane in the shop. A very successful and enjoyable day was had by all.
