Clonduff GAA Club once again entered 2 teams – Clonduff Ógs and Clonduff Gaels – into the U8½ Tournament Yesterday in An Riocht. For the second year in a row the team emerged victorious in the Shield competition. After playing 3 games in the group stages Clonduff Gaels entered the knockout stages being paired with neighbours Kilcoo. In a open and entertaining game the local rivals matched each other score for score right to near the end. Clonduff got one last opportunity at the death and they popped the ball over the bar to claim a place in the final by a 1 point margin.
Clonduff met Burren in the final in a game which they dominated from the very beginning. A couple of early goals settled the nerves and Clonduff finished the half comfortably in control. The 2nd half was much the same as the 1st half with Clonduff on top in all areas of the field. The Final whistle sounded and again Clonduff left the Tournament not only with medals and a trophy but also reaping the rewards that come with playing as a team on the day.
Clonduff Ógs also played 3 games in the group stages and also played their hearts out. This young team were also entered into shield competition and drew An Riocht in the knockout stages. Unfortunately the hosts were too strong for Clonduff on the day but all of the team can be extremely proud of their performances. This team will form the spine for next years U8½ squad.

A massive thank you to all at An Riocht and for once again organising an excellent tournament.
Also thanks to the Clonduff Parents and Mentors for giving up their time on a Saturday to ensure a great turnout of supporters to represent the club.
