Twenty-two lads travelled over to Dromintine for their annual U12 Football tournament. First up was Mayobridge B, then Bellaghy B and finally St Joseph’s in the last group game. Clonduff were unbeaten in the group games and qualified as winners. In the semi final they met Ballyholland and after an end to end game where both teams swapped scores it was all even at the final whistle then extra time. With determination and a ‘never say die’ attitude Clonduff came out 4 point winners. The final they faced a very strong, physical Bellaghy A side. At half time the Yellas were 3 points down and with the breeze in the second half Clonduff gave an outstanding display of fielding and long range score taking to overturn the deficit and come away with a 6 point win. Tom Close collected the cup on behalf of his team mates to a roar of ‘Up the Yellas’.
The squad, with mentors Niall Rafferty (r) and John Boden (l) was Cain Rooney, Laurence Brannigan, Kieran Mulholland, Padraig Kelly, Conor Parr, Tom Close, Shane Parr, Rory McKernan, Charlie Kerr, Aidan Markey, Eamon Brown, Declan Hudson, Oisin Tumilty, Darragh McAlinden, Oran Wilson, Conor McAlinden, Seanin Gribben, Charlie Brown, Sean McCumisky, Padraig Clancy, Thomas Woods and Jamie McDonald. A big thank you to all the boys who put in such a great effort.
