Scór Sinsir (Senior Scór) took place in St. Mark’s High School Warrenpoint on Saturday 9th March 2024 and whilst it may have been low in participating clubs, that in no way detracted from the quality of the performances or the entertainment value.
Clonduff, one of the stalwart clubs, was represented in the Solo Singing by debutant Niamh McSherry who sang ‘Ellis Island’ and seasoned performer Vivienne Mulcahy who gave a fabulous rendition of the recent Matt McGinn composition ‘Kinahalla’ – this was the biggest competition of the evening with eleven entrants and our girls acquitted themselves brilliantly. Next up in Recitation was the ever-green Eileen McCusker who delighted the crowd with ‘Mary Kate’. The final competition of the evening was the Set Dancing and for the first time in many years there were three clubs participating – Clonduff was the first team up and they demonstrated exactly why they reached the All Ireland Final in 2023 by retaining their title – well done Ursula, Wendy, Nicola, Laura and the versatile Lisa with Francis, Michael and Jayme.
The Set Dancers will be on stage in Killeavy on Sunday 7th April in the Ulster Semi Final competing against their Armagh, Derry and Tyrone counterparts.
Good luck to the Set Dancers going forward and thanks to all who represented our club with pride! You are the people who are keeping our culture alive!
