During the week 2nd-6th August over 160 children aged 4-14 years attended the annual Cúl Camp (sponsored by VHI Healthcare) in Pairc Chluain Daimh. The Camp is run by County Board assigned qualified coaches, which included a number of young Clonduffians – Onagh and Paula Gribben and Shane and Tony McGreevy and Mark Downey. The youngsters were given the opportunity to acquire and/or hone their skills in Gaelic Football (boys and girls), Camogie and Hurling in a fun-filled and meaningful atmosphere. The week was blessed with dry weather when the rain on threatened on one occasion but the children didn’t have to stop their activities.
On the second morning of the Camp, Club Down Officers visited the Camp to show their support of and solidarity with the whole ideal of the Cúl Camps. Pictured below are: Anita Brannigan (Clonduff Secretary), Gareth Thornton (Cúl Camp Col-orindator), Malachy McCourt (Club Down Chairman), William Smith (County Vice Chair Person) and Brian McGreevy (Clonduff Chair Person). A short time later County Secretary Sean Óg McAteer also visited the Clonduff Camp.
