Despite the threat of bad weather forecast (which didn’t materialise until evening) and the impending Down v Tyrone replay, P5/P6 age teams from Down, Tyrone, Armagh, Derry, Dublin, Louth and Meath assembled in Clonduff Park for the annual festival of U10½ Football in memory of the late Daniel Andre who played both Football and Hurling for Clonduff Club. The festival got underway at 10.30am and concluded some four hours later. There was lots of great football played with three competitions to play for after the Group stages. The eventual winners were:
Cup – Winners: Burren; Runners Up: Clann na Banna
Shield – Winners: Shane O’Neills (Camlough); Runners Up: Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin)
Plate – Winners: Clonduff B; Runners Up: Burren B
Members of Daniel’s Family presented the silverware and the medals.
Clonduff Club offer a massive thanks to the clubs who attended, the Clonduff people who helped in the shop, the kitchen and the clubrooms; the club members (from U14 right up to Senior) who co-ordinated the pitches, refereed the games or acted as runners and particularly the people who pulled the whole event together on the day.
Pictured here are the winners and runners up awaiting the medal presentations.
