DOWN FEIS SEVENS HURLING CHAMPIONS 2018

Clonduff clinched the Down Feis sevens today in a very hot and sunny Mayobridge. The final was a very entertaining game against neighbours Warrenpoint that went right down to the last few seconds of the game. Warrenpoint got off to the better start and led at the break 1-5 to 1-2. That lead could have been much greater but for 3 great saves from Niall Quinn in the Clonduff goals. A couple of good points from Paddy Grant also helped to keep Clonduff in the game. Clonduff came out of the blocks quicker in the second half and put away 2 quick goals to build up what looked like a comfortable lead. However in sevens hurling scores can come thick and fast and with a minute to go a Warrenpoint goal left it a one point game. Clonduff held on in the final few seconds for the win and afterwards Lorcan Brannigan gave a powerful acceptance speech when he received the Willie Curran Cup from County Feis Secretary Gerard Keenan.
Clonduff team: Niall Quinn, Shane Murray, Darragh Downey, Chrissy Young, Paddy Grant, Rhys Ward, Lorcan Brannigan, Jamie Lynch, Pearse Brannigan, Liam McParlan.
