DOWN MINORS 1977 REUNITE IN CLONDUFF CLUB 2010

A Reunion for the Down Minor Football Team who were crowned All Ireland Champions in 1977, took place on Friday 12th November in Clonduff GAC Clubrooms. The team had based their entire training programme in Pairc Chluain Daimh.
The evening celebrated the first ever Minor All Ireland title won by a Down team. The event began with a brief presentation featuring photos from this historic journey, followed by evening dinner and speeches from Team Manager Sean O’Neill, Selectors Sean McManus, Paul Lambe, Sean Lavery and Tony Hadden, as well as Team Captain John McCartan (Glen), Dr Walsh (Team Doctor) and Harry McEvoy (Chairman Down County Board 1977). Everyone recalled their own personal memories and those in attendance received a special commemorative booklet which included various match reports, photos and team sheets of 1977. A special word of thanks must go to Sean McManus who mainly organised the reunion and compiled the excellent souvenir booklet for this historic occasion.
