Twelve teams of children aged 6 and under took part in the second Ella Trainor Blitz on Saturday 12th August – there were three from Clonduff and Cumann Pheadar Naofa, two from Burren and one each from Rostrevor, Mayobridge, Bosco and Longstone. The early morning rain cleared away and the children had a great festival of fun, football and friendships. Every team played six 10-min games simultaneously. The games were refereed by Clonduff’s Young Volunteers and three guest referees from Cumann Pheadar Naofa. Thanks to everyone’s cooperation the event couldn’t have run smoother! We thank the Trainor Family – Marty, Susan and Aoife for giving us the privilege of remembering their and our little girl in this way. Aoife had got proceedings under way by singing Amhrán na bhFiann. Thanks to our visiting teams for making the morning special, the parents of our own children for providing the sandwiches, etc; to Marty’s and Susan’s extended families for rolling in behind the event and doing the catering, to Noleen and Goretta in the Club Shop, Geraldine and Dermot in the Burger Bar, Kieran for once again organising, Jimmie for keeping proceedings rolling, Anita and Clanmour Printing for the commemorative programme, and to all the visitors – this could not have happened without you.
