THE IRISH NEWS unveiled the winners on Friday, of their highly contested Irish News Club and Volunteer Awards. The Awards initiative recognizes and rewards GAA Clubs, Schools and Volunteers throughout Ulster for their commitment to Gaelic Games and their community irrespective of their playing ability.
Noel Doran Editor of The Irish News, congratulated all the clubs, schools and volunteers that received awards adding that ‘the Irish News Club and Volunteer awards are tangible proof that our clubs, our volunteers and our schools are indeed the foundation of GAA.’
The Irish News is partnered in these awards by The Ulster Council, O’Neill’s Sportswear, Energize Sports Drinks, and Mooney Hotel Group (Wellington Park, where the function was held, is part of the group).
It was a great day for Down Clubs with Clonduff winning and Carryduff runners-up!

Attendees were treated to a magnificent lunch in the Wellington Park Hotel and the inspiring after-dinner speaker was Brian McIver, Manager of Donegal Senior Football team.
