Junior Hurling Championship – Clonduff v Castlewellan – Pairc Esler, in perfect condition, was the venue for this high octane match between Castlewellan and Clonduff. Clonduff fired three consecutive wides, then with the deftest of flicks they found the back of Castlewellan’s net. Castlewellan responded with two points scored from frees. With Clonduff having the lion’s share of possession they took an early lead of four points. Then with a lapse in the usually tight defence Castlewellan scored two goals and 4 pts . Leaving the Yellas trailing by 6 pts at half time. The second half started with an increase in the intensity and pressure from Clonduff. The team started to win the midfield battle thus allowing the forwards to get the all important scores to reduce the deficit to the bare minimum, outscoring Castlewellan in the second half by 3-05 to 0-4 and thus ensuring a place in the Junior Final Against Div 1 opponents Ballyvarley .Final Score Clonduff 4-08 v Castlewellan 2-10.
