The response was unbelievable! People turned out in droves to support this very worthy cause and dug deep into their pockets with donations at the door, the purchase of raffle tickets and buying the stuff on sale at the auction – the more novel of which was a Kilcoo flag (which was threatened with a cigarette lighter) and a pedigree lamb! The auctioneer Thomas ‘Tooter’ Murnin seemed able to draw money out of the pockets of almost everyone who attended. There was an unbelievable number of prizes donated for both the raffle and the auction and ‘music for the jive’ was by Noel Stansfield.
Finbarr’s brother Peter gave us an insight into his illness and the ‘journey’ forward since it occurred in Thailand earlier this year on 29th June. He has a long road of rehabilitation ahead and hopefully our efforts will go some way to bring this about.
Finbarr’s sisters are visiting him in San Francisco next week and we are happy that we were able to host this event for him. We are a great community and should be proud of it!
